The traditional form of this character is written as “盡”. 皿 indicate all types of containers. The ancient form showing a hand holding a brush, scrubbing out a container, this character originally meant “empty”.Only when a container is empty can it be cleaned, which is how this character acquires the meaning of “ultimate”
